Marriage is a sacred, legal, and emotional bond between two individuals. It forms the foundation of family life, sustains future generations, and contributes to the social and psychological well-being of society. Although marriage remains a valued tradition in Afghanistan, many young people are unable to start their lives together due to economic hardship and the rising costs of marriage. This not only creates emotional strain for young couples but can also lead to broader social and family pressures.
In response to these challenges, the Imam Jawad Charity Organization carried out its annual Marriage Support Initiative, providing essential household items to eligible couples. This year’s initiative was held on the occasion of Mid-Shaban, the blessed birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AJ), a day that symbolizes hope, renewal, and a brighter future.
During the program, 34 young couples who lacked the financial means to provide basic necessities for their new homes received household packages consisting of 12 essential items. These included carpets, blankets, refrigerators, washing machines, irons, non-stick cookware sets, gas stoves, dinnerware set, hygiene items, picnic stoves, and lamps.
The identification process for eligible couples began approximately one month prior to the distribution. After careful assessment of their financial conditions and completion of all required legal and administrative procedures, the assistance was delivered in a transparent, organized, and accountable manner to those most in need.
